Christo & Jean-ClaudeThis husband-wife duo are known for their temporary art works that are displayed on a massive scale. Some of their practices include wrapping entire bridges, buildings and even islands!
Their more famous piece in North America: “Central Park Project”
According to the artists there is no deeper meaning to the work. Viewers are to be effected by the “Immediate Aesthetic”. Notice how they integrate new color and forms into nature. In your opinion, how do the forms and colors contrast to nature?

The Project:
Plan and design your own Public Works Art
Get a Picture from the Internet, a scenic magazine or even one you took yourself!
Then think about the landscape. What is unique about this landscape? What forms and shapes make up the mountains, the hills, or rivers or buildings?
Visualize your addition to the landscape. What shape, form or color would you add to compliment the scene or augment the natural features? What materials would you use to build this addition?
"I am an artist, and I have to have courage ... Do you know that I don't have any artworks that exist? They all go away when they're finished. Only the preparatory drawings, and collages are left, giving my works an almost legendary character. I think it takes much greater courage to create things to be gone than to create things that will remain."
-Christo
This is one of the drawings he talks about. Pretty cool, eh?
